Sharp Announces new 3D Aquos SH8298U Android phone sporting dual 8MP cameras

The third 3D Android smartphone finally unveiled, the Sharp Aquos SH8298U, Sharp announced on Friday. The device is obviously the new challenger in the 3D Android department occupied by LG’s Optimus 3D or Thrill 4G (US Name), and HTC Evo 3D.

The Sharp Android phone is sporting 4.2-inch qHD display that can display 3D without special glasses, and the phone is equipped with forward-facing 8-megapixel cameras for shooting 3D or 2D videos and photos. Apparently, the Optimus 3D and the Evo 3D are equipped with 5-megapixel dual cameras only, so we’re quite excited to benchmark the phone, especially its dual cameras. The Sharp Aquos SH8298U will arrive in Japan soon, according to reports, and US availability still unknown.

The Android-based Aquos SH8298U smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon single-core processor, which is quite “lower” compared to Optimus 3D’s OMAP4 dual-core processor, and Evo 3D’s dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. However, the 1.4GHz processor is obviously a fast CPU, and could contribute better battery life. Other features of the Sharp Aquos phone are 512MB of RAM, 2GB onboard storage, and a 1240mAh battery.
